Introduction – I am Timmy
Hello, fellow readers! My name is Timothy “Timmy” Hunter—yes, you may use the South Park reference, but it’ll cost you a nickel. 😉
I’ve been working in IT for ten years now, primarily in Help / Service Desk roles. Four years ago, I finally transitioned into an Administrator position, where I oversee an entire IT infrastructure and automate as many daily tasks as I can. Over the years, I’ve tackled a little bit of everything: mobile, satellite, POS systems, websites, Windows, macOS—you name it.
Believe it or not, this is my third attempt at going back to school. Yup, you read that right: third. My first stop was ITT Tech in my early twenties. I was two months away from a Networking degree when my grandmother—who caught the news before any official announcement—told me the school was suddenly closed. No warnings, no heads-up—just a sign on the front door. I lost my degree right there, but at least I qualified for student loan forgiveness which also removed all my college credits. It was a major setback.
For my second attempt, I enrolled at a local community college while working part-time jobs. Thanks to some government grants, I made it through three semesters. Then life hit me with a curveball, and I had to pause once again. That chapter closed sooner than I expected.
Fast forward to today: I’m at Full Sail University, determined to finish what I started. This time, I promised myself I would see it through. I’ve had a lot of inspiration along the way—especially from my aunt, who is (at the time of writing) wrapping up a master’s degree and scheduled to graduate next year. Watching her push forward gave me the motivator I needed.
And now, here I am: the last five months of my bachelor’s degree. We’re in Capstone season! I’m excited to collaborate with my classmates on this final project. We’ll put our knowledge, time-management skills, patience, and teamwork to the test. My overarching goal? To come away with new skills, new understanding—and maybe even a project worth taking to market. If all goes well, we might keep refining our work and see if we can push it out for consumers.
