Week 11 – The Video
Ready? Take? ACTION!! This week had progress with our app! I was able to get at least one video recorded before the time of this post. After this post, I know I am going to get one or two more! However, the first video provided A LOT of useful feedback that’s going to be EXTREMELY helpful moving forward. Outside of that, worked on my algorithms for certain features within the application.
Video: One of Many
So, the first video I was able to get lasted almost an hour. Sad to say that a least 10-15 minutes of it was the intro script and NDA/Recording document that I had to have the tester agree to. Legal sucks but it protects our app and team. After that, we moved forward with the testing. There were 15 tasks the end user needed to perform. I will say that during these tasks, did have to add a few more as there was an oversight in what was put there. You live and learn! But the tasks seemed to be very easy to follow which is one of the main goals.
However, and this is something we expected some of the tasks we had to skip because they were not able to be performed due to bugs in the code or the feature not working just yet. Hopefully moving forward, we can add those tasks back in as we fix these issues. But overall, got some AMAZING feedback and will be sharing that with the team.
Algorithms: AI but not AI
Like before, worked on the algorithms for certain parts of the app. Made some adjustments to only break them completely, HAHA. But that is development for you! So, been battling with trying to find out why I make a simple change that it completely trashes everything. Got to love it! It’s like that one meme where you make one pixel adjustment in Microsoft Word with a picture and it completely flips and messes up the document . . . yeah, that is the meme I am working with.
But overall, it is going well. I was able to get some of the code change and working as expected. Fixed some wording and sayings, along with some UI changes and additions. So overall, making progress.
Next Steps
My plan on moving forward is to continue to work on getting the algorithms functioning to at least 90%. Data should be shown correctly, math should be mathing correctly, and UI and wording will be in a much better state. After I get this all done, going to look at our Jira board and see what else I can assist with. Or, get with the team to see if there is anything else we might want to add to the features I am working on. Who know, right?
Short post but contains a lot of information. I still cannot wait to share with you what the app actually is! Going to get with our professor and other team members to see when this can be shared (there is already a possibility they have been sharing on their own blog posts, but time will find out).
