Week 9 – The Revival

Good afternoon internet readers! We are back for another episode of “The Timmy’s Capstone Chronicles!” We decided to actually take a week off for the summer to recharge our batteries and get a fresh mental state. Which was good since my teammates did an AMAZING job on a feature that is setting us up for success. But enough about that, let’s move onto what happened this week!

Cleanup: Files, code, wait is that . . .

This week, I didn’t do a lot of coding. I am still looking at some of the current features that we have and seeing on how we can improve them. But what I did most this week was cleanup in the code and cleanup in our master share folder. Yes, I know I said that I was going to be working on the login page, but I discovered an issue with it and that needs to be corrected before I do anything with it. (Let’s just say it will be really hard for anyone to do anything if this doesn’t get fixed).

Alongside that, I wanted to ensure that our master folder is kept in good order and organized correctly. This way, if we have to reload anything and/or need to reinstall anything, we can do it quickly rather than just guessing around. Oh, and on that note, we got our Jira board update some more so that is working great!

Feature: It’s not a bug, it’s a FEATURE

So, next week, I will be 100% focused on getting our login page fixed with adding some new features to it. These features will not only help improve account creations but will also help optimize and improve account security. Along that, will help protect again bad actors (or actresses)! I’ll be having to do some research on the Googley to find out how I can implement this feature. Might have to call onto another API. Which isn’t a bad thing. In fact, it would be a very good thing since it will give me more experience in calling APIs.

Along with the login page, I am going to be working on a few other enhancements on other features of the app. I’ll be working closely with one of my team members since it’s around the MVP feature, they have been working on. Hopefully, more to come on that.

Testing: Oh no!! A test

Stop!! This isn’t like any test you have taken! This test is actually easy and there are no wrong answers . . . only right ones. The next few months and hopefully the next few weeks, we will be getting with some individuals to help test our app. These tests will be vital to our app and getting feedback from these tests will be invaluable. So, if you are someone that we know, get prepared to get called on. Also, get ready to sign NDAs and agreements that you will not disclose anything you see (paperwork is not fun).

Next Steps

So, the future for me. 1, work on getting things fixed and added to the login page. 2, work with one of my team members to help enhance their MVP item. And 3, work on getting things ready for testing and feedback from our friends and/or family. Doesn’t sound like a lot but trust me, it is a lot in the grand scheme of things when dealing with code. If you know anything about code or even Microsoft office products, you make one change and BAM, everything you did is now off by one pixel or just does not work.

Once again, thank you to everyone that has been following this story and my adventure. We are getting closer to the goal and soon will be ready to present our app to our professors and peers. I’ll be starting to look at presentation material for our final presentation in October. Until then, good morning, day, evening, afternoon!!
